Over the last few months I've been watching this documentary. I was interested to see their perspective on life, and on how we can each make it better. To sum it all up [WARNING THIS IS A SPOILER!], they said that the secret to happiness is in having good relationships with other people. It really doesn't matter how much money you make, if you're married or not, if you have kids or not, or if you're old or young. All different people, in different circumstances can find happiness by having good, healthy relationships with other people.
I love when I can capture these amazing relationships with the camera. I love when he looks at her, with the softness that belongs only to those that have been there. And I love the sheepish look when the kids are crazy. And I love, LOVE, love when they are all in it together.
And I think it's so neat, when my clients put those photos up in their homes to remind themselves of the amazing people in their lives. After all, who doesn't want to be reminded of the things in life that bring happiness (I have my own "happy" wall in my kitchen (full of pictures of all of us together), that makes me smile everytime I look at it. And my kids love looking at it too.)?
I met up with this family last week. This is the third time I've taken pictures with them - they are such a sweet family. I just love working with them. You can tell that they are a family that enjoys being together and works hard to make everyone feel a part. I guess that's the funny thing about good relationships - it takes work to keep them good (like committing 30 min. every night to help with push-ups for fitness tests and kick-overs for gymnastics, reading stories at night, putting Halloween decorations up at 8pm because it's the only time you can find in your schedule, etc.). But I guess that's the most rewarding kind of work of all.
Happy Thursday Everyone.
Make it a good one, and give a hug to those you love.
