Half-Life [Rachelle Lee. a personal project]

Project Half-Life.

I guess it was a great confluence of events. The quiet whispers of the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, and then the oil spill, the three couches abandoned on the side of the road, and then the day we went to the resevoir, only to find that litter was strewn everywhere. We cleaned up a little. But it made me wonder, how long does it take for that plastic bottle to break down (450 years!!!!)? And how bad is it really (in 1960, each American produced about 2.7 pounds of garbage per day. By 2003, this amount had stabilized at 4.5 pounds a person each day)?

And so Project Half-Life was born.

A project born from the love and reverence for nature.

A collaborative effort between me and my dad

So excited to finally be in the "picture taking" stage of this project. Our goal is to have all 52 images ready for earth day. We hope you'll join us and pick up a few things as you make your way around our beautiful earth.
