Play. [Rachelle Lee. Photographing Kids]

Once in awhile, I have a little friend who is a little camera shy. And for each one, we have to figure out what will work best for them. Sometimes I have to try and be invisible, not making eye contact or not speaking to them, so they can kind-of forget that I'm even there. Sometimes I have to get down on their level and play with them and talk with them about things that they like. And sometimes, I just sit off to the side and ask mom or dad (or in this case, grandma) to play or sing or talk with them. And I stand off to the side or behind and take the pictures of their expressions as they interact with someone they know and love. (One dad told the most amazing princess story, and the look in his daughter's eyes brought tears to my eyes. She loves her daddy, it was written all over face.) This little girl played games with her grandma, they threw seeds and flowers and ran around and laughed and had so much fun. It made my job a breeze and I just love her precious little face. Can you tell she loves her grandma?
